The 1909 Group at the Green Lib Dems Conference

We are hoping to get an initial meeting together at the Green Lib Dems' conference in Oxford over the weekend of 9th-10th June, 2007.

GLD are key potential partners in The 1909 Group, as with its emphasis on Land Value Tax and exploration of other economic issues such as monetary monopoly, we can promote key aspects of modern "green economics" - the idea of "Sustainable Abundance".

Land Value Tax is an absolute necessity alongside road pricing, if that is the road we want to pursue, since it makes it a more equitable choice to live closer to one's destination and choose not to commute. But equally, spending on transport infrastructure is a key factor in the value of land, so Land Value Tax can be a very precise way of recouping from those who benefit the costs of providing such infrastructure.

Those of us who are also monetary reformers believe that changes in the waymoney itself is created, from debt based to credit based, can break into the vicious cycle of over-production and over-consumption that is needed to finance the debt based money supply.

The Green Liberal Democrats are holding their conference at Oxford Brookes University over the weekend of 9th and 10th June and we hope to meet on the Saturday evening probably, but will post more information as plans solidify.
